Alternating roles is as natural as waves in nature.
Relationship can take many forms ranging from the
spiritual to the material and Tolla has a special
need to indicate the importance and richness of
movement within the rigid metal material. Her work
is composed of the illusion of the victory of energy
over matter, a bronze figure floating in the air, a
person climbing tree, standing on stairs, but
actually holding them up.
Also moments of
reflection & natural relaxation & even despair are
needed, like changing seasons of the year. After
growth there is decay & a period of rest, new
questions arise, grow and mature. The main
motivation for her work are questions regarding the
reasons for living and the complexity of the
universe.
Her belief is
that we all have to work through an individual path
during the course of life in order to reach our
spiritual goal. The soul is a reflection of the
universe driving towards fulfillment. The movement
is forward & upward, on our way we go through
circles, spirals, up's & down's - trying to focus on
our goal.
The dynamics
of a loving couple combine the forces of two souls
into infinitive energy 1+1=infinity.
There is an
emphasis on the division of roles;
- One -
supporting, while the other is working his way
up - and vice versa,
- One -
giving, the other - taking.
