Jim has lived in Dahlonega for the past 5 years. Originally from Florida, Jim attended Pratt Institute in New York City where he received his B.A. degree. Following graduation he worked at General Motors’ Styling Division as an artist and designer of automobiles. Jim moved from Detroit to Atlanta in 1968 and worked for several design firms until 1978, while also teaching design at Georgia Tech. In 1995 Jim built his home in Dahlonega, relocating his family in 1997. Since that time he has been active in design work around Lumpkin County, and volunteers for several organizations including the Holly Theater, Chamber of Commerce, and the Better Home Town Project. Jim serves on the Historic Preservation Commission for the city of Dahlonega, and is active in the Dahlonega Baptist Church.

Jim has completed several works dedicated to the memory of the September 11th, 2001, attacks on the U.S.A. Each year he designs an artistic statement to commemorate that tragic day in history. They are works from the heart. While not intended to shock the viewers, it is hoped that they will be thought provoking.
