"Trying to reveal the beauty hidden within the wood allowing it to show its grain while going with the flow of each individual piece" is Jack Karmel's approach to the art of wood turning.

When he starts to turn a chunk of wood, he is without a plan but uses the contour of the piece, permitting it to dictate its own shape and character.

"My philosophy is to enjoy a tree's natural outer beauty while it lives, and if felled by a storm or other natural causes, to allow me to expose its inner beauty." Jack uses lumber felled by environmentally responsible companies only. He has been turning wood for 13 years, a hobby that turned into passion.
